Our Club
Who we are
Ruhr Phoenix is a Quadball club from Bochum that grew out of the university sports programme at Ruhr University Bochum in 2015. Since our founding, what has brought us together above all is our enthusiasm for an unusual sport that combines elements of handball, dodgeball and rugby, while bringing together people from all kinds of backgrounds.
For us, it’s not just about sporting success. Quadball is also about community: we train together, travel to tournaments and enjoy spending time together away from the pitch, too. New players are just as welcome as experienced Quadball players, regardless of gender, age or previous sporting experience.

As a mixed-gender and inclusive club, we want to create a place where everyone feels comfortable and can play the sport in their own way. Fair play, mutual respect and getting along well with one another are just as important to us as sporting ambition. This also means taking responsibility for one another and, in particular, providing children and teenagers with a safe environment.
Although sporting success isn’t everything, Ruhr Phoenix is now one of the most successful Quadball clubs in Europe and regularly competes in national and international tournaments.
Together, we want to develop Quadball further in Bochum and beyond, raise awareness of our sport and, at the same time, preserve the sense of community that makes our club what it is.
